John “Jack” Strattan Hubbartt

Beloved son and brother, John (Jack) Strattan Hubbartt, age 74, of La Grange, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marcine Hubbartt and his sister, Kathryn Jane Hubbartt Stuker. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Hubbartt of Chicago, IL and his brother-in-law, Richard (Kathy) Stuker, of Sugar Hill, GA. Jack will be missed by many Hubbartt, Strattan and Van Etten Family cousins, many Stuker Family in-laws, and many friends from the LaGrange Bible Church where he was a member.

Mr. Hubbartt was born in Lafayette, IN on February 2, 1949, while his parents were attending Purdue University. He was a 1967 graduate of Lyons Township High School, a 1972 graduate of  Illinois State University and a 1975 graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was retired from Busch & Schmitt Lithographers in Broadview, IL.

Mr. Hubbartt enjoyed frequent fishing trips with his father (and family rowboat “Hubba Hubba”) and with good friends from his church. Jack loved his family camping trips exploring the continental United States from coast to coast with a special place in his heart for Illinois’ Starved Rock State Park. Jack had a passion for history and for stamp collecting, which was a great and fitting combination because of the many historical moments, people and locations depicted on postage stamps.

Mr. Hubbartt’s faith in God was the most important part of his life. As his health permitted, Jack participated in Men’s Prayer Breakfasts, Children’s Ministry Sunday programs, and Bible Readings.

Notices of A Celebration of John’s Life Service will be posted as plans are finalized.  Arrangements are made by Hallowell & James Funeral Home in Countryside, IL.
