Jama Triner

Jama Triner, age 86, passed away on January 16, 2022 in LaGrange, IL. She was born October 13, 1935 in Murphysboro, IL to LaWanda L. (Young) and James W. Harvey, and graduated from Murphysboro High School in 1953. In 1956, she married Edward D. Triner and together raised two children, Grant and Jami.

Mrs. Triner was a longtime resident of LaGrange IL, with many connections to the community.

Jama was a lifelong nature and animal lover, a friend and benefactor to every cat and squirrel in the neighborhood. A warm and caring mother, after her own children were raised, Jama found enormous satisfaction babysitting for local families, by whom she was greatly cherished. She loved to entertain family, who could often be found around her dining room table enjoying each other’s company. Family gatherings always included her in-laws Edward A. and Marie L. Triner with whom she had an especially close relationship.

She is survived by her daughter, Jami Triner Rekstad; her sister Barbara Carter; her grandchildren, Cameron and Christopher; her former spouse Edward D Triner; cousins by marriage, James and Barbara Kadlec, as well as many nieces and nephews, John Carter, Jim Carter, Jolene Carter, Shannon Carroll and Colleen Thomas; all of whom she loved and touched deeply. Jama was preceded in death by her son, Grant Triner; her siblings, Virginia Harvey, Mary Harvey, Winifred Harvey and David Harvey; in-laws, Edward A. and Marie Triner.

Private Services will be held.
