Christopher A. Curran

Christopher A. Curran, age 88, of Indian Head Park passed away peacefully on May 12, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Lois and loving father of Christopher Jr., Petrea (Brian) Kasper, Paul (Beth), Sean (Becky), Steve (Dawn), and Scott (Amy). He was also the cherished grandfather of Connor, Ethan, Cameron, Chloe, Raymond, Kaleigh, Jack, Asprey, and Quinn. He was a dear cousin, colleague, neighbor, and friend.

For over 30 years, Chris, affectionally known as “Doc,” served as a physician at LaGrange Memorial Hospital and Hinsdale Hospital, delivering thousands of babies. Chris was an avid fly fisherman, fly tier, and fly rod maker – a testament to his patience.  He never sought the limelight, but his wise words commanded attention whenever he spoke. His kindness and caring nature made him a father figure to many. His booming laughter was contagious, could fill a room, and lift the spirits of those around him.

Chris survived more serious health challenges than most people should ever have to endure in a lifetime. Nevertheless, even as he battled Alzheimer’s and Dementia in his final years, he remained the embodiment of a gentle spirit and offered a consistent smile. He treasured life and the people in it, fighting fiercely to spend every moment he could with them until the very end.

Chris lived a remarkable life, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.

  1. Chris was loved by all the DuBois family. Many years of friendship, laughter and love. Eagle River, racing around on the wave runners, Leo always managed to fall off his. Diners in 3 lakes, Darien and Bedford Park. Memories I will never forget. Chris and Leo had a brotherly relationship. They always had time to get together. I’m hoping that is going on right now. 😊🙏🏻. I wish I could be there with the Curran family to hug each one of you.

    1. When I came to clean at Chris and Lois’s home in Three Lakes I enjoyed talking to each of them saying “Hi” to the sons and their families when they came , and sharing life, whatever that may be, when Chris and I were in the kitchen or living room together.

  2. Doc was kind-hearted, welcoming, and funny; not just to me but to my family. He taught me how to properly grill a steak. “If you’re lookin you ain’t cookin’ !!” He helped create so many great memories, and of course he’ll be missed by many.

  5. A legend.
I do remember that loud booming voice of his echoing down the hospital halls- especially when my name was included.
I remember him showing up to my church in jean cut-offs and a straw hat at my wedding rehearsal. He wanted to know if we needed a ring bearer.
I remember super-gluing his filthy white clogs to the floor of the doctor lounge bathroom- with Spina!
I remember the art of that Caudal block.
    God Bless
    Rest well.

  6. Chris meant the world to our family. He had a wonderful wit and loved a good mystery to either watch or read. Even though he was a fairly quiet man, he could tell a story with great humor and detail. Chris was also very compassionate and caring. The Curran home in Three Lakes held great memories for our family and he and Lois were always so welcoming and inclusive. We miss you Doc Chris!

  9. To my dear Dr Curran, working beside you for many years is an experience I will cherish and remember forever. You were the very best teacher, friend and supporter to me for many many years even though I couldn’t remember your special sterile safety pin and I’d jump whenever you rang the ding-dong bell. We had so many fun times – making Christmas candy, your special Halloween visit to my children’s party, and dinner parties. To your lovely wife and my partner in orienting to L&D and teaching LaMaze Classes in your office and your beautiful loving family we offer our deepest condolences and prayers. May you Rest in Peace my friend.
