Lydia Danielewicz

Lydia Danielewicz (nee Danylenko), 74, of Willowbrook, a long-time resident of Berwyn, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and her best friend of 50 years. Lydia was born on August 12, 1948 in Belgium to the late Wasyl and Anna Danylenko. Lydia was a cherished wife for 52 years to Dennis. She was a devoted mom to Steven and cherished middle sister to Nina (Andrew) Czech and Kathy (Carl) Boyer. Lydia was the loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews and was loved by many friends.

Lydia was an amazing mother to Steven. She worked at Loyola for many years before retiring. Lydia loved to cook and bake, but her most loved pastime was sketching and painting beautiful nature scenes.

Family is grateful for the care she received from the nurses, CNAs, and all employees of Sunrise Assisted Living for 2 years. She made many friends in both assisted living and the memory care unit.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 8pm on Monday, October 17th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family & friends will meet back at the funeral home for prayers on Tuesday, October 18th at 9:30am. A procession to St. Cletus Church, LaGrange will follow for 10am Mass. Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer’s Association or Breast Cancer Awareness are greatly appreciated. Funeral information: 708-352-6500

    1. To my dearest brother and nephew mom will truly be missed. She will always be in my heart and prayers . One of the best sister in laws anyone could have . She was the sweetest with the purest soul . Rest In Peace sweet Lydia . Always with love your sister in law Krissy ♥️

  3. As hard as it is to lose a family member what we still have is life time of beautiful memories that we shared with that person. And the fact we can’t be with everyone today is hard but we will always have Lydia in our hearts ♥️ and keep the image of her during better times with us. Love and hugs for the whole family ❤️

  4. My deepest sympathies to her family. Lydia was my godmother and I was the flowergirl at her wedding. I am thinking of her with lots of love, for her upcoming birthday. I am truly sorry that we lost touch and I didn’t get a chance to talk to her before her passing. She was a wonderful, kind lady, and I will always miss her.
