  1. So sad to hear of Uncle Harold’s passing. He was a great man and will be missed by all. Always many fun times with he and Aunt Evelyn. The last remaining elder connected with the Baum family. Wish we could have been there to help celebrate his 100th birthday! Always the voice of reason….. Miss the old days and the family connections. Prayers to his family and grandchildren.

    1. Thanks Darlene. My dad had a great time at his 100th birthday party. He loved the Baum family and I think felt closer to Grandma Baum than he did to his own mother. He went quickly and quietly after a long and happy life.

  3. My sympathies to all as Harold lived an extended rewarding life through which he served so many as husband, father, teacher, and friend. He was my Aunt Irene’s brother – she was married to my mother’s brother – and his wife Evelyn was one of who we called “The Baum Girls,” a long-time loyal family at our former Beautiful Savior Church in Chicago. Irene had hoped to achieve that 100-year milestone, but the Lord took her just shy of 99. I’ll be able to regularly pay my respects to them both at Concordia since their resting places lie just one section over from some of my family’s graves.

  4. Thank you Robert. I think that my dad wanted to beat Irene’s record. Their father died at about 96, so there must be some family longevity gene.

  5. I heard recently of Harold’s passing. I am a retired history teacher from Jones High School. When I began teaching at Jones in the 1980’s, Harold was a senior member of the Social Studies Department. I was a young man in my twenties. Harold treated me with kindness and respect. I greatly appreciate the help Harold gave me in the beginning of my teaching career. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word.
