Robert M. “Bob” Cabaj

Robert M. “Bob” Cabaj, age 83, of Western Springs; beloved husband of Sharon Cabaj; loving father of Chris Cabaj & the late Scott (Gretchen Nitz) Cabaj; proud grandfather of Sean & Ellery Cabaj; dear brother of the late Lottie (the late George) Moran. 

There were 4 things he loved in this world in this order: his Catholic faith, his family, his service to our country, and sports. A devout Catholic and parishioner at St. John of the Cross. He loved his 2 boys and 2 grandchildren more than anything. Proud veteran of the US Army and American Legion past commander. Lover of sports, specifically Notre Dame football and Lyons Township High school athletics. He was in attendance at thousands of games over the years. He will be missed by all that got to know him.

Visitation 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 1 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Friday, September 2 for 10:30 a.m. prayers. A procession to St. John of the Cross Church, Western Springs will follow for 11 a.m. Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/) or a charity of your choice is appreciated.
