H. Kenneth Hatter

H. Kenneth Hatter, 86, a resident of Western Springs, passed away on December 27, 2021.  Kenneth was born on February 20, 1935, in Oak Park, the son of Harold and Emily Hatter.  

 

Ken graduated from Lyons Township High School and earned a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Eastern Michigan University. He then went on to receive an MBA in Marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Ken also served his country in the U.S. Army at Ft. Belvoir, VA. 

 

During his professional career, Ken worked as a senior marketing executive at several organizations including Brach Candies, Quaker Oats, Peter Paul Candy, Tootsie Roll Industries, Canteen Corporation and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).  

 

Ken was known for his quick wit and creativity both professionally and in his personal life.  He enjoyed cooking, grilling, photography and was most happy spending time with his family on the Carolina beaches.  

 

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 46 years, Catherine (Kitty), his children, Steven (Lisa) Hatter, Bradley (Lisa) Hatter, Melissa Compton, Katherine Hatter (Leonard Ho), Elizabeth (Corey) Sellner, and many grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara (Don) Metzler.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org).

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date and details will be forthcoming.

  1. Ken has been missed on our block the last few years, even more so now. Our sympathy to all the Hatter family. So sorry for your loss.
