Celine was born in Chicago, Illinois to Irene and Jay Skinner. She grew up on the South side where she graduated from Mercy High School. Celine knew her calling was to be a nurse at a young age and graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1960. She continued to work as a surgical nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago where she met and married Ed in 1963. Celine continued her passion for nursing until 1968. In 1990, with her children grown, Celine decided to return to work at a pediatrician’s office where she worked in private practice for many years. The practice shifted to Loyola University in 1998 and Celine remained with Loyola until officially retiring in 2007. She continued to look for ways to stay active and found the perfect volunteer opportunity at Hinsdale Hospital in 2008. She volunteered in the NICU and Labor/Delivery for 10 years, earning many accolades for her service throughout the years. When she wasn’t volunteering, she found a new passion for travel and took her first trip abroad to Russia in 2004. She continued traveling every year seeing most of Europe with her best friend, Irene. She ended her volunteer work in 2018 and focused on spending quality time with her family. Celine’s warmth and compassion will always be remembered.

Family & friends will meet directly at Mater Christi Church, 2431 S. 10th Avenue, North Riverside, on Thursday, July 1 for 9:00 a.m. Memorial Mass. Interment private. 1. Thanks to Irene’s daughter Lisa and her friend Michelle I heard of Celine’s death. Having retired myself after 45 years of working full time as an RN I admired your Mom for her 10 dedicated years to Hinsdale as a nursery volunteer. Your dear Mom had a lot of spunk . I remember that she was also helping to improve things via the condo association. She was a go get the job done type of person. She was proud of her years in nursing and volunteering. But most of all she loved all of you.May she rest in peace and may good memories from the past warm your hearts as you mourn the death of your dear mother.
