Nicholas Andrew Zavisin

With the most profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Nicholas Andrew Zavisin, age 52, of Western Springs; beloved husband of Amy (née Dixon) Zavisin; loving father of Nicholas Andrew Zavisin, Jr. and Jack Dixon Zavisin; dear son of James Milan Zavisin, Sr., the late Harriet (née Bruffey) and the late David Wert; adored brother of the late James ‘Jay’ Milan Zavisin, Jr. and Tonya (Dave Rutishauser) Zavisin; step-brother of Kevin (Ashlee) Wert and Kristin Burkart; brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

Nick was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He attended Turpin High School and The Ohio State University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.  He met the love of his life, Amy, and moved to Chicago to marry. Nick was an avid tennis player and huge sports fanatic; he especially loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds/Bengals, and all things tennis.

Nick was fortunate to have a wonderful family and many important lifelong friends. He was a devoted father and loving husband.  Family time was his favorite activity.  Given Nick’s outgoing and friendly personality, he thrived in medical and commercial sales as he built Midwest Sourcing.  With his compassion for others and easy going demeanor, Nick made friends everywhere.

It is difficult to find words to describe how deeply Nick will be missed.  He gave us love and memories to cherish forever.  His sweet smile, happy laugh, great sense of humor, and heart of gold will always be a part of us.

The Zavisin family will receive family and friends on Thursday, June 10 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., the time of the service celebrating Nick’s life at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Rd., Oak Brook, IL 60523. 1. Dear Debbie, Thank you for sending me the news of your son-in-law’s passing. I am heartsick for you all, especially for Amy and Nick Jr. From the obituary, Nick sounds like the man people were drawn to, competent, and a loving husband and father. I know all will miss him.

  2. Dear Amy, Nicholas, Jack,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Nick was one of the kindest souls I have met. May you grief be balanced by the love you shared with Nick and many happy memories.

  3. Nick and I were pretty inseparable in high school. He was a best friend and a big brother rolled in one. Everyone liked Nick in high school. He lived on a busy road and many of us would honk as we drove by to see if we could get a Zave Wave. It happened so often that Nick started just raising his hand when he heard a honk while sitting with his back to the front window while on the couch watching tv. He was such a wonderful, kind, sweet, funny guy. I feel a hole in my heart. I’m so, so sad that he is gone but so happy I got to know him.

  4. Tonya, Jim, Amy and the boys no words can express my sorrow for your loss of Nick. He was such a sweet and good man..a wonderful father…taken much too soon. It is unimaginable that he is gone. I’m so sorry to learn of Nick’s passing. He was truly an affable guy, always positive and upbeat. I remember fondly talking with you both on the bleachers at our boys’ baseball games. The Nemeth family is keeping you all in our thoughts over your great loss.
