Rettie Virginia Farrell

Rettie Virginia Farrell (nee Huffmaster), age 93, late of Kenosha, WI, and formerly of Willow Springs, passed away June 1, 2021.  She was married to Thomas G. Farrell from 1955 until his passing in 1980.  She was the mother of five—Barbara Truby (John), Virginia Louise Farrell, Fabian Farrell (Eileen), Stephen Farrell (Kathy), and Theresa Hathaway (Ron).  She was the grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 11.

 

Virginia was a strong woman with an independent spirit.  She loved sewing, crocheting, quilting, gardening, and writing stories.  She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing.  Over the years she worked at the Willowbrook Ballroom and for the Southtown and Tribune newspapers.  She had the opportunity to serve the Village of Willow Springs as its Village Clerk.  She took part in many senior citizen bus tour trips and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.  She was a devout Christian.

 

Visitation will be at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 West 55th Street, Countryside, (708-352-6500) on Monday, June 7, 2021, from 9 to 11 a.m., with a chapel service to follow.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery (708-458-4770).

  1. Rest peacefully Ginny. She was my neighbor for most of my life growing up in Willow Springs. She was a kind woman. What I remember 20 plus years living next to her is she was a lovely woman with a fighting spirit. She will be sorely missed
