Corazon “Cora” Enriquez

Maria Corazon “Cora” Ferrer Enriquez, 65 years of age, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 in her home in Darien, Illinois due to natural causes.

Cora was born on April 21, 1955 with her identical twin sister Maria Aurora, in San Clemente, Tarlac, Philippines to the late Dominga Guiang Ferrer and Camilo Ferrer along with their siblings, Evelyn, Edgardo, and Jocelyn.

She attended Camiling East Elementary School and Camiling Colleges where she graduated from both schools as valedictorian. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Santo Tomas in 1978.

Cora immigrated to the United States in 1979, first living in Michigan. She was married to her husband, Danilo “Danny” Enriquez in 1989. Cora and Danny had a full life together raising their darling daughter, Katherine Ferrer Enriquez in Darien, Illinois.

Cora was a socialite, always beautifully dressed for the events and parties she organized. She loved to travel and play with her late dog, Tobey. She had a distinguished career as a registered nurse caring for patients at Cook County Hospital, Mount Sinai, and Saint Anthony Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, among other institutions.

She is survived by her husband Danny, daughter Katherine, sisters Maria Aurora (Alberto) Recierdo, Evelyn (Arturo) Antonio, Jocelyn (Mauricio) Yadao, and brother Edgardo Ferrer. She was a beloved aunt to Abigail, Philippe, AJ, BJ, Marc, Katherine, Maverick, Angelica, Albert, and Annabellle.

Cora will forever be cherished in the lives of her many family, friends, and communities.

Visitation is limited to 50 people at a time this Wednesday April 14th and Thursday April 15th from 3-9 p.m. at Hallowell and James Funeral Home (301 75th Street Downers Grove, IL 60516). 

Funeral mass (limited to 200 people) will be this Friday April 16th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (8404 Cass Ave., Darien, IL 60561).

Due to current gathering restrictions, a maximum of 50 visitors will be allowed at a time at the funeral home.  Masks and social distancing is required.

  1. My heartfelt sympathy to Danny, Katherine and family on the passing away of Cora. Prayers for her eternal peace.
    I will always cherish the time we spent together, our carpooling, picnics in parks and by the lake… Never a dull moment w Cora. Missed seeing her twirl, pull and pop her hair.
    Rest in our Lord’s embrace, dearest Cora. Heaven has another angel.

  3. My deepest condolence to Manong Danny, Katherine and family. I will forever be grateful for the time we spent together especially when l visited US. You let me see beautiful places and went shopping. You also told me to be back in US when l retired. I hope we still have time to bond.
