Roy DeFreece Jr., age 88, a resident of Phelps, WI since 1995 and formerly of Oak Brook Terrace, IL, passed away on Wednesday September 18, 2019 at the Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI. Roy was born on July 19, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Roy and Bessie DeFreece Sr. He was married to his wife: Betty on May 30, 1953 in Cicero, IL. He worked at the Vilas Co. News-Review and the Vilas County Commission on Aging. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and bowling on leagues. He was a member of the Land O’Lakes Bible Church and the Lions Club International in Eagle River, WI. He was preceded by his wife: Betty DeFreece on May 3, 2019; his parents; sisters: Helen and Marge; and sister-in-law: Lorayne. Roy is survived by his daughter: Vicki (Paul) Hartung of Willowbrook, IL and son: Roy (Kathy) DeFreece III of St. Charles, IL; brother: Ralph (Anne) DeFreece of Carol Stream, IL; 2 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.  Visitation 10 a.m Tuesday September 24^th until time of funeral service 11 a.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75^th St., Downers Grove.  Interment Acacia Park Cemetery.  Funeral home phone 630-964-6500
