It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Stephen Persa, age 78, who left us peacefully on October 27, 2025.
Robert was a respected local businessman and proud business owner, known throughout the community for his dedication, hard work, and genuine care for others. His success was built on integrity, generosity, and the meaningful relationships he formed over the years.
Outside of his work, Robert lived life with joy, humor, and an open heart. He was an avid fan of hockey and golf, and he loved entertaining family and friends. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or encouragement, Robert had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel valued and welcome. He always had an ear to listen, a voice to comfort, and a heart ready to help.
Robert is survived by his life partner, Joann (Countryside, IL), sister Eileen Bunge (Tucson, AZ) and his beloved sons Christopher (Chicago, IL), David (West Hartford, CT) and Michael ( Saline, MI) along with his five cherished grandchildren; Carter, Zoey, Amelia, Zara, Zealand and two loving daughters-in-law; Susan and Beau. His family was his greatest source of pride and happiness, and his legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through them.
A 10am Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St. Cletus Parish in La Grange, Illinois, followed by a celebration of Robert’s life at a local pub in McCook, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring and remembering the remarkable life of a man who gave so much to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Robert’s memory, reflecting his lifelong spirit of generosity and compassion.
Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside at 708-352-6500.

I only had the privilege of knowing Bob for the past several years, but he quickly became one of my most beloved friends. I came to think of him as a father figure — always offering wisdom, whether it was about finances or life in general. His generosity, kindness, and complete acceptance of others were truly remarkable. He is someone I will love and miss forever.
Our hearts and prayers go out to you in this sad time.
Bob and Joann are my neighbors. Always ready with a “hello” and “have a good day”. He will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joann and Bob’s family. We got to know Bob through Joann and loved seeing them in Burnham Harbor. He was a kind man and always stopped to visit with us. He will be deeply missed.
