Carol Elsie Vizek

Carol Elsie Vizek, age 90, formerly of La Grange; beloved wife of the late Joseph E.; loving mother of Viktoria; Vynette (John) Belluomini; Joel (Fran) and Josh Vizek; proud grandmother of Sally (Simon) Schmidt; Lisa, Ashley, Ryan, Tyler and Jacob Vizek; and Johnny Belluomini; great-grandmother of Scarlett Schmidt; dear sister of the late Emil “Rick” (Sally) Holada and aunt of Jessica; and friend of many.

Carol, mother of four and devoted wife for 66 years, was a lifelong artist and teacher.

She was a traveler, painter, potter, avid reader, and community member who truly cared about others. Throughout her life she actively supported the humanities and the protection of the environment for future generations.

The passion she expressed for her many interests has been an inspiration to family, friends and acquaintances. Carol, a free-spirited woman who made a lasting impression, touched many hearts and added beauty to the world.

Michigan, a place that supplied Carol with countless treasured memories since childhood, occupied a special place in her heart. It created the perfect environment for shared feelings, interests and experiences with those she cherished during her life.

A future celebration of life is planned for a later date. Donations to Alliance for the Great Lakes (https://greatlakes.org/) in Carol’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

  2. What an amazing woman, with a wonderful family and so many friends! Carol had so many interests. She seemed to have a passion for everything she touched and a real concern for the environment. She truly had a life well-lived.

  3. I will always be grateful for the years of friendship Carol and I shared.
We shared a love of art
    (Viewing art, creating art)
    We shared an art studio
(Her side always chaotic, my side in order)
We shared a love of books & reading
(Mostly fiction & art books, of course)
We shared a love of music
    (Andrea Bocelli, our favorite)
We shared a love of the lake & the beach
(Searching for stones & beach glass)
We most definitely shared a love of laughter, which we did a lot
(Sometimes I made her laugh, sometimes she made me laugh, sometimes we laughed at each other)
All of these memories, once shared, now kept alive in my heart.
Sweet dreams, my friend, until we meet again.

  4. I will always cherish the memories of Mrs. V from my younger days. So many wonderful times with her and Mr. V and the whole Vizek family playing games and just laughing and talking. And Kevin and I will always cherish the memories of spending time with both of them after we were married. We wish the family peace and love at this sad time.

  5. I met Carol at the bead shop decades ago. We would run into each other once in awhile and she’d tell me about her pottery and other interests. It was during one of these times I learned she had a daughter living at the same condo property as me, but it was several years before I met her daughter. I’m sure Vicki got her creative spirit, and love of art and nature from her mom. What a special combination of gifts to give your children.

  6. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Vizek family during this difficult time. 🙏

  7. Carol was a remarkable human being. A dear friend with whom I shared many adventures and even more laughter. She made the world a more beautiful place! Loved you Carol!

  8. Carol was a very dear, one-of-a-kind, creative force with whom I shared many adventures over the years. Her sense of humor, love of art, reading good books and “making things” was always infectious. I will miss knowing she, and her dear husband Joe, are out there in the world, ever ready for a laugh, or good time. There will always be a special place in my heart for them both. Sending peace and my deepest condolences to all their much beloved family.
