Anne M. O’Connor

Anne M. O’Connor passed away on January 16, 2024, after battling pneumonia and complications from surgery. Anne was born on November 25, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the middle daughter of Augustus White and Mary “Minnie” (née Vaughan). Anne attended St. Killian’s and graduated from Aquinas Dominican. After high school, she worked at a small accounting firm in Chicago’s Loop. She married her beloved Stephen J. O’Connor on April 30, 1960, and after living in Chicago for a time, settled in Western Springs. There she was a busy homemaker and an active member of St. John of the Cross Parish. She also enjoyed spending the Fall and Winter months in sunny Naples, Florida.

She is survived by her loving sister, Catherine Loftus, and her four sons, of whom she was very proud: Joseph (Michele), Michael (Amber), John (Althea), and Thomas (Annette). She enjoyed sharing stories about her grandchildren, Patrick, Daniel, and Brendan; Michael, Matthew (Breanna), and Emily; Shannon (Christopher) and Sean; and Regan, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her cherished husband and parents, as well as her dear sister, Mary Murray.

Visitation 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 West 55th Street, Countryside. Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. on Monday, January 22, at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Road, Western Springs. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
