Ronald E. Borowski

Ronald E. Borowski, age 91, of Westchester; beloved husband of Dolores (née Holub); loving father of David (Sandy) Borowski, Kathleen (Derald) Bogs, Deborah (Mark) Kennedy, & Sandra (Scott) Tausk; proud grandfather of Jonathan (Jennifer) Bogs, Brittany (Wes) Sewell, Kelly Tausk, Mark (Marguerite) Kennedy, Timothy (Jean) Kennedy, Kristi Tausk, Lauren (Paul) Bartek, & Chloe Tausk; great-grandfather of 7; dear brother of Christine (Terry) Pilz & the late Norman (the late Mary Ann) Borowski; uncle, cousin, & friend of many.

Ron was born in Chicago in 1932 – he attended parochial schools including Fenwick High School and served as an altar boy at St. Mary of Czestochowa – that is also where he later married his wife, Dolores. He served in the Air Force, and he and Dolores lived in different cities during his service. Eventually they settled in the Chicago area where they raised four children. To their absolute delight, they also were blessed with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Ron excelled at sports his entire life – he played baseball and basketball in high school. Later he became an amazing hockey player, golfer, tennis player, and cyclist. Ron was still riding the bike trails through Bemis Woods at age 90, despite his family’s trepidation. He loved watching the Sox and the Bears, too. He would say it was a good day when the Sox won and the Cubs lost. Spoken like a true Sox fan.

Ron was a talented electrical engineer – he was proud of his security clearance as he worked on the stealth bomber. He had a long career as an engineer.

Above all, Ron loved his family and honored his parents. He was proud of his Polish heritage. He loved being a grandpa and great grandpa, fondly also called “Poppy” by some of the grandchildren. And he was beyond lucky to have 70 years of marriage to the love of his life, Dolores. Their love story was something to envy. Through life’s ups and downs, Ron was always Dolores’s foundation. He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace, dear husband, father, (great) grandpa/Poppy and brother. May the bike trails in heaven be perfectly paved and lined with beautiful views.

Visitation 12pm until time of Funeral Service, 2pm on Sunday, October 15 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ron’s name to the American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/) are appreciated. Funeral information: (708) 352-6500
