Ethel A. Novak

Ethel A. Novak, age 87, of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on June 23rd, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Jerry. Loving mother of Pamela (Joe) Schweigart and Curt (Cathi). Cherished grandmother of Zachary (Emilee), Joseph (Brianna), Daniel, and Peyton. Great-grandmother of Lola. Fond aunt and friend of many.

Ethel was a longtime resident of Lyons and Countryside. She spent her career as a florist for 30 years.

Ethel was a member of the St. Cletus and Carillon Lakes choirs for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Visitation 3 to 8pm on Wednesday, June 28th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside. Chapel prayers 9:30am on Thursday, June 29 from the funeral home to St. Cletus Parish, LaGrange for a 10am Funeral Mass. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society are greatly appreciated.

  1. So sorry to hear about Ethel. Sorry I didn’t know earlier I would have walked down to pay my repects. It was in the St. Cletus bulletin today.

    So sorry to hear about your Mom. She always seemed like such a glamour girl. Know that you loved and cherished every moment with her and did the best you could.
    A wound to your heart that never really heals. My deepest condolences to you and your entire family. God bless.

  3. So sad to hear about Ethel’s passing. I loved seeing her when she came to our salon. She was always so kind and friendly. I loved her sense of style and how she always looked so put together from her head to her toes. I’ve gotten to have some great conversations with her though the years and I will miss seeing her beautiful smile. My deepest condolences to her family. I know she loved all of you so much. May her memory be a blessing and may you find comfort in the love you shared with this beautiful soul ❤️ I will miss Ethel very much and may she rest in peace.
