Michael Kevin Maloy

Michael Kevin Maloy, age 73, of LaGrange. Loving husband of Mary Beth Maloy née McLynn . Devoted father of Kate (Daniel) Ferri and Brendan (Ashley) Maloy. Perfect grandfather of Ned and Samuel Ferri. Proud brother of Jack Maloy, Erin Horstman, Kimberly McLynn, and the late Beth Moon. Fond uncle of Sean, Patrick, Jason, Michael, Meghan, Emily, Matthew, Timothy, Erin, Robert, Caley, Tyler, and Jane. Dear friend, cousin, colleague, and in-law of many.

Mike was born in 1949 and grew up in Summit among a sprawling network of siblings, cousins, and friends, all of whom he cherished his whole life. He was rarely happier than when remembering the tales of his hometown. It was there he met and fell in love with Mary Beth, who made him a husband, father, and eventually a grandfather.

He began work at Norkol in 1982 and continued there for 36 years, rising to the position of president and making countless more friends along the way.

His happiest moments came with his family: taking his wife and children on vacation; dropping in on nieces and nephews at recitals, concerts, and Little League games; over-feeding his extended family at every opportunity; or taking combinations of the above to an endless stream of sporting events.

Love of family reached perfection for Mike in the form of his two grandsons, Ned and Sam, for whom he had an endless well of time, energy, and affection. Upon meeting Ned, his first grandchild, he said “This is going to be fun.” He made sure to follow through on that until his final day.
