Geraldine “Geri” O’Malley

Geraldine “Geri” O’Malley, age 88; beloved wife of the late Charles O’Malley; loving mother of Candace (Brett) Allison & Cara (William) Brennan; proud grandmother of Connor & Kelsey Allison, Kaleigh & Shea Brennan and great-grandmother of McKinley Allison; dear sister of Thomasine (Tobee)(the late Richard) Cahill; loving sister-in-law, aunt, and friend of many.
Geri loved life. Her passion for her family was evident in her presence at every event she deemed important (there were many), and her fierce commitment to family tradition and togetherness. She was a dedicated and caring teacher who touched the lives of many young people over her years in the Chicago Public schools. Friends were part of her extended family and she was there for them in good and bad times. She loved to travel, eat good food, play tennis and golf, and at the end of the day have a good glass of red wine. Her vibrance was stifled in many ways by Alzheimer’s but it never took her fighting spirit. We were blessed she knew us till the day our Lord called her home. Thank you to all the family, friends and healthcare providers that helped her through the tough times. We will miss Geri but her spirit will live on in each of us. Cheers Mom until we meet again, love you always.

    1. Geri was a great book club partner. Her comments were very succinct.. She and I had taken similar vacation trips and it was fun to compare our thoughts. We often ran into each other at Dominicksand ended up having great conversations. Her family was her life and I’m sure you all have lifelong memories of her. May she restinpeace.
