James Frank Sater

James Frank Sater, 68, of Countryside, IL went to be with his Heavenly Father on December 13, 2022.

Jim was born on January 19, 1954 in Decatur, IL to Ernest Sater and Helen Barnes.  He had 5 loving children and 8 grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandkids and being the best papa he could be. He loved gardening, fishing, playing bingo and helping out at the food pantry at his church. He loved making hats for anyone he met including his nurses and doctors in the hospital and donating baby hats to new moms in need. He loved watching Chicago sports and Fighting Illini. He never met a stranger and loved to pray for people he met. He always gave to others in need.

He is survived by his children: Jimmy (Sheri) Higgins of Ottawa, IL; Jamie (Brian) Davis of Peru, IL; Cassandra (Steve) Shinsako of Countryside, IL; Sarah (Jakob Lofland) Sater of Decatur, IL; and Josiah (Rose) Sater of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ashley, Kelsey, Carson, Chloe, Kaidince, Hayden, Caree and Franklin. Siblings: Shirley Sater of Marseilles, IL; George Sater of Morris, IL; and Esther (Ronnie) Runyon of Decatur, IL. Many nieces, nephews, other family and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Pam, Sarah and Hazel; nieces: Tiffany and Dacie; nephew: Timmy; and grand baby: Makaylynne.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 29th at LaGrange Bible Church, 850 7th Ave., Lagrange, IL 60525, with visitation from 10am until time of service at 11am.

Memorials may be made to Lagrange Bible Church Food Pantry.

Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside at 708-352-6500.

  2. Been thinking back our family gatherings the last several years over these past few days. Warms my heart recalling his jokes and laughs during those times. Good memories.
