David Alan Nanak

David Alan Nanak, 69, of White Hall, Arkansas, died August 20, 2022.

 

He was born February 5, 1953 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, son of John Louis Nanak, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Wieczorek Nanak.

 

David was reared and received his early education in Illinois, graduating from John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois Benedictine College (now Benedictine University) in Lisle, Illinois.  He earned his Master’s Degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

 

He moved to Arkansas in 1977 and his wife, Margaret “Margie” Hammer Nanak, joined him after their marriage August 18, 1979 in La Grange, Illinois.

 

David worked at Southeast Arkansas Behavioral Healthcare System since October of 1977.  He retired as the Director of Psychological Services in June of 2021.

 

Dave was also an adjunct professor at UAPB. He volunteered for many organizations. He was a den master for his church’s Cub Scout pack, a committee chair for Boy Scout Troop #391, a volunteer for Girl Scouts, a soccer coach, a softball coach for league and tournament softball, former president of the White Hall Softball League, a former board member for the White Hall Soccer Association, a parish religious education teacher, and an usher for his church. His hobbies included birding, travelling especially to Walt Disney World, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Survivors include his wife, Margie Nanak; his children, Jennifer Nanak (David Keeling), Matthew Nanak (Rachel), and Megan Nanak (Alex Hayes); his brothers, John (Marie), Tom (Mary), Jeff (Lora); his sisters, Sandy Zerwas (Craig) and Debbie LaNasa (Doug); his uncle, Edward Wieczorek (Dolores); he was Grandpa to his beloved grandchildren, Riley Nanak, Harper Nanak and Sidney Alan Keeling; and he was an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

 

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 820 Division Street, Lisle, Illinois, with visitation preceding the Mass at in the Narthex of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Details forthcoming.

Note: Mass was scheduled for Saturday, September 3, 2022, but had to be cancelled. 

Interment private at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, Illinois.
