Anne Rita Baginskis

Anne Rita Baginskis (nee Bacians), age 86, of Woodridge, Illinois, passed away on October 24, 2021.  Born in Daugavpils, Latvia, to parents Mikelis and Anna Bacians.  Beloved wife of Stanley (Stasis).  Loving mother of Stanley M. (Debbie Wolter), Steven (Julie), Mark (Gigi), Thomas (Tina) and Carl.  Devoted grandmother of Daria, Darius, Johanna, Sophia, Carter, Lukas and Kaila.  Dear sister of Andrew (Vickie) Bacians and the late Janina Bikulcs.  Fond aunt of six nieces, three nephews, two grandnieces, five grandnephews, three great grandnieces and one great grandnephew.

Rita’s family emigrated from Latvia, in 1944, living in Germany for several years before coming to America, in 1950.  She graduated from Loyola University’s Nursing School before beginning her professional career.  Her work career later included teaching nursing students at Loyola University.  She was married to Stanley for 61 years.  Rita and her husband continuously nurtured and encouraged their Latvian heritage within their family.  This included her teaching and volunteering at the Latvian School of Chicago.  She enjoyed singing in her church choir.  After retiring, Rita continued to invest herself in her many interests, including lunch with those she held dear, cooking, gardening, sewing, scrapbooking, and endless love and care for family and friends.

Visitation at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 13, until time of funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., at St. Scholastica Church, 7800 Janes Ave., Woodridge.  Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Latvian School of Chicago (KBLS) would be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Downers Grove, (630) 964-6500.

  1. Rita was so kind and generous, she almost felt like my own mother-in-law. We will miss her. Prayers to the family for many happy memories.
