Matthew S. Malec III

Matthew S. Malec III, age 61, formerly of LaGrange, IL, passed away on October 11, 2021. Loving son of Ronald S. Malec and the late Catherine S. Malec. Devoted father of Melissa, Molly Vimont (Joe), Matthew, and the late Bauzer D. Schnauzer. Additionally, he leaves behind his siblings Cathy (Jim) Krusinski, Marirose Malec, Julie Malec, John Malec, Danielle (Brandon) Edenfield, and Suzy Malec-McKenna, nieces Hailey and Caitlyn and nephew Jonah.

He earned his BS and MBA from the University of Illinois, and was a lifelong Illini and White Sox fan. During his career as a loan officer, he was passionate about helping people buy their first homes, but his favorite job was being a dad. He passed in sunny Key Largo, FL, where he always dreamed of living.

Visitation 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Funeral Prayers at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, October 22, from the funeral home to St. Francis Xavier Church of LaGrange for 10 a.m. Mass. Those unable to attend may watch the Mass live at https://www.facebook.com/SFXParish.LG/live/ Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Southeast Environmental Task Force are appreciated (http://setaskforce.org/get-involved-2/).

    Matt was a great guy. When I was moving my family back from California in the mid-90s, he spent a lot of time helping my wife and I look at houses, as we were trying to decide where to locate ourselves.
