Trudy Schmitt
Trudy Schmitt, age 85, of Western Springs; beloved wife of the late Donald R. Schmitt; loving mother of Warren (Kathy) Schmitt, Wayne Schmitt, & Steven (Linda) Schmitt; proud grandmother of Sarah, Grace, Rachel, Carter, & Colin Schmitt; dear sister of John (June) Dohnal, Jr.; dear aunt of Amanda Dohnal.
Trudy enjoyed being a nurse, and raising her three boys with her husband Don. Over the years, she liked to sew, and created beautiful, handcrafted needlepoint and cross-stich pictures. Later in life, she took up stained glass making. Trudy was an active member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Western Springs where she was involved with the choir and fellowship group. She was also a member of the Indian Head Park Womens’ Club. Trudy relished spending time with her family, especially with her niece and five grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking when the family gathered for the holidays. In the most recent years, after living in Western Springs for over 50 years, Trudy moved to Plymouth Place Senior Living.
Visitation 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 26 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, IL 60525. Funeral Service to follow at 4 p.m. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, IA will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 27.

I have fond memories of Trudy, as a member of St. John of the Cross Choir for many years. She was always there to help out with a smile. May she rest in peace.
