Edgar J. Hofmeister “Ed”

Edgar J. Hofmeister “Ed” retired president of Hof Haus Ham Company passed away in Florida surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Auchau, Austria in 1935 to John and Louise Hofmeister. He is survived by his wife Patricia of 41 years and son Matthew and daughter-in-law Mary.He graduated from Belding Elementary School and Lane Technical High School. He attended the University of Illinois located on Navy Pier. In 1957 Ed enlisted into the US Army and served in Korea. After returning from Korea, Ed joined his father John Hofmeister -founder of Hof Haus Ham Company, which began in 1947. His determination and vision grew the company from a local business to one with nation wide distribution. Ed provided the opportunity to expand the company to a third generation with his son, Matthew, operating the business today. Ed and Patricia lived in the Golfview area of Hinsdale where they raised their son and made many friendships. Throughout his life, Ed cherished his family and friends. Ed was a member of the Chicago Midwest Meat Association, American Association of Meat Processors, and the Hinsdale American Legion. Memorial Service 3:30pm on Monday, August 16th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Please arrive a few minutes early to be seated. For Info: 708-352-6500
