Marjorie “Jorie” Tyrrell Pollard

Marjorie “Jorie” Tyrrell Pollard, age 56, of Western Springs passed away on December 20, 2020 surrounded by her loving family after an incredibly brave seven month battle with cancer. Beloved wife, partner and best friend of Dan Pollard for a wonderful 32 years. Loving mother of Tim (fiancée Sydney Slager), Brian, and Maggie. Devoted sister of Judie (Dave) Savage, Carolyn (the late Bob) Manhatton, Tim (Dora) Tyrrell, Meribeth (Tom) Lally. Dear sister-in-law of Ellen Elias, Michael (Moira) Pollard, Mary Kay (Dave) Buysse, and Patrick (Rose) Pollard. Loving aunt of 19 nieces and nephews. Fond great-aunt of 10. Loving friend of many. Jorie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles and Joan Tyrrell, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Marianne Pollard.

Jorie was gifted with an abundance of kindness, love and grace, and was blessed with a wicked-funny sense of humor, a keen sense of business and a wonderful love of travel.  Jorie always exuded empathy for others and maintained her natural sense of curiosity in all things, from pop-culture and world events in history to home design and the ending of her current beach read.  Jorie was also the CFO of The Pollard Group and the CEO/COO of the Pollard family, involved in all facets of her immediate family’s lives and always looking for ways to spend time with her larger extended family.  We have all been blessed to call her wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, and Jorie will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

  4. Dan and all, I am deeply saddened by this loss and send my most sincere condolences. Jorie was, as the memorial says, “gifted” in so many ways. I remember her as someone who was always quick to smile and I was one of many who experienced her “wicked-funny sense of humor”. Certainly, her gracious countenance and loving spirit will live on in all of us. We are better for having known her. With love, JN

  5. I was just thinking about your family and how much we always looked forward to receiving you holiday cards, with the fabulous background of one of the places that you visited each year. My memory of Jorie is one of a loving wife, a fabulous mother and a partner in crime, drinking vino on my front porch, while planning a cross country event (or two). My heart breaks for your family and all that were lucky enough to have known this wonderful woman. She will be missed.

  6. I will always think of Jorie as a fun, smiling kind-hearted lady who shared my decorating tastes. Such a lovely, wonderful person. She will be greatly missed. Our love to Dan and all. Sending love.

  7. Our broken and crushed hearts are to be mended as we have faith in the resurrection promise. Psalms 34:18. Rev 21:3,4. Marjorie “rests”, soon to return just as beautiful and in good health. The promise is for a new heavens and new earth. The heavens have been cleansed, and now for the earth to be transformed back to the original paradise condition. Christ’s heavenly Kingdom government will do this. Isaiah 9:6,7 AlMighty God, family and friends will cherish and love Marjorie for eternity. The resurrection is a guarantee. John 5:28,29 May we be comforted: “Enjoy Life Forever” JW.org Christian Love and Prayers, Sandy Wirfs
