Ronald Richard Janssen

March 5, 1953 – December 6, 2020.

It is with deep sadness that we must share the passing of Ronald Richard Janssen, age 67, on December 6 2020.

Ron was a loving father to daughter, Erica Marie Janssen, brother to the late Kenneth Richard Janssen, son to late Loretta Ann (nee Virgo) Janssen and Richard Edward Janssen. Ron was a beloved cousin and dear friend to many.

Ron graduated from St. Laurence High School in 1971 and received his associate’s degree from Lewis University.

Ron spent his life spreading light with his incredible laugh and big heart.

He devoted his career to aircraft maintenance but he always boasted of his first job as a McDonald’s “fry guy” on Archer Avenue in Chicago.

He was a passionate game bird hunter and fisherman, woodworker, motorcycle enthusiast, and all around problem solver.

Ron loved music from a young age and always found his way back to playing his guitar.

Above all, fatherhood was most precious to him. He dedicated his life to his daughter, passing on his strength of will, sense of humor, patience as well as stubbornness. He will live on through the ones he loved.

Due to Covid, we will be holding a memorial at a future date. Please share your photos of Ron and check for service information at: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ronjanssenrecovery/guestbook.

“Even though missing you will hurt, we will always think of you with joy because of the light you brought to our lives.”

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace.

  1. I worked with Ron for over 15 years. He taught me so much. Some about aircraft maintenance but more about being a man of quiet faith, love of family, being a “stand-up guy” even when it’s not easy, a compassionate man who’d help anyone and a fun guy to be around. I laughed more with this guy…more than with any other guy I’ve met. I’m talking the laugh till you cry, snort, and can’t speak kind of laughter. I have shared enough stories about Ron with my kids, it’s like he was a part of our family. I will always remember and treasure the time spent with him.
This world feels kind of empty without him in it. But, God’s heavenly kingdom is a bit brighter. Until we mear again my friend…

  2. Dear Erica & family,

    Sincerely, John & Cindy Young
