    1. Thank you Carlie, for the kind words and loving care you provided that allowed us to keep my aunt safe and happy in her home. Marlene Moran

  2. I first met Lil and her husband Pete in June of 1984 when we were all volunteers for the St. John of the Cross Garage Sale. They were in charge of the Hardware Dept….which meant they got all the rusty, dirty, junky bits and pieces other people didn’t want. They set up long tables underneath the stairs of the school. With diligence and good humor, they whipped everything into proper order, separating, marking, and sprucing up all that was handed them. To this day, I remember them sitting together in the stairway alcove, greeting and cajoling folks into purchasing items they may or may not have needed. God bless dear Lil and Pete. You both are remembered fondly.

    1. Thank you Rose. My aunt felt a real bond with St. John of the Cross and shared nice memories of those garage sale opportunities that connected her and Peter to its wonderful parishioners.

  3. Lillian was a gentle woman of deep faith who loved Our Lady’s Rosary and the Divine Mercy devotions. In past years she prayed faithfully before morning Mass as she was able with the Rosary Group. May God grant her eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom.

    1. Thank you Joan. Lillian’s love of her faith was with her constantly. Even when she no longer left home she would pray the rosary daily and watch the Mass on EWTN. She looked forward to joining her loved ones in heaven.

  4. Lillian was a great friend. I loved her very much. Our friendship spanned over fifteen years.

As a Minister of Care from St John’s, I was privileged to bring the Eucharist to Peter weekly, in the last year of his life. After his passing, I couldn’t let go of Lillian. We attended daily Mass and rosary together, often followed by breakfast or an entire day enjoying each other’s company. In later years, it would be a weekly visit, administering the Eucharist, followed by a “pizza party”.

Faith is the first thing that comes to mind in pondering her life. She taught me a lot. A gracious, humble, joyous and generous soul, Lillian always made me feel cherished.

I have to laugh as I look back and realize in my role as Minister of Care, I was not the gift to Lill, she was in fact, God’s gift to me all along.

May the soul of our lovely Lillian and all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen

  5. Lillian was awesome! Like a grandma to me. She is in heaven with my Mom and Dad. I liked going to church and breakfast with Lillian.

  6. Dear Lillian…a loving, gentle and faith-filled woman. As I learned today of her return to her « Dear Lord and his Blessed Mother, » I smiled and rejoiced that she is now where she has so long longed to be…with God, with Mary and with her beloved Peter. She was a true inspiration. Her fierce trust in God and, not only her desire to do the will of God, but also her surrender to God always moved me deeply and challenged me to do like wise. She was a gift to many and certainly to the parishioners of St. John of the Cross Parish and of course her family and friends. All of whom are in my prayers as we thank God for her presence in our lives. Aren’t we blessed to have such an angel now keeping watch over us and speaking to God and his Blessed Mother on our behalf!

  7. I had the privilege of bringing Eucharist to Lil for a time, and found her to be a lovely, gracious woman, filled with joy in the Lord. As Nancy said above, she was God’s gift to me.

  8. Lillian was a wonderful woman. Devouted to her Faith and love of Pete. She had the most beautiful handwriting even as she aged. She will be sorely missed but I know she is with Pete and my mom Lorraine Patula Berning. I can imagine the Polka parties they are having in Heaven. Rest In Peace Lillian.

  9. I am so sorry I missed seeing the obituary in the Trib. I would have gone to the wake. I would have wanted a holy card for keepsake. Lillian and my mom Louise Kowalski (Mysliwiec) said they were cousins, but not really. They all hung around at Five Holy Martyr’s. She stood up to mom’s and my aunt Jean’s weddings. After my mom passed away, we began to write to each other. Sometimes I would send her flowers to cheer her up. Her faith in God was amazing and her hand writing was perfect even at 100+. I know she is in heaven. She was truly a person who I won’t forget. I just feel so sorry I didnt find out sooner. Eternal rest shine upon her. She was ready for so long.
