  5. Dear Caplice Family,
I was notified of Mike’s passing today by a text from a fellow veteran St. Cletus teacher. The text messaging has been exchanged by many of us for literally hours talking about wonderful memories of your family. Memories based on how you, Cathy, and Mike gave of yourselves for the St. Cletus community, and school group, in particular. I, personally, so enjoyed all your children… and, it is because of the example you set. I am very sorry for your loss, and please know how much Mike and you had an impact on the students, families, and teachers of St. Cletus. God bless you in this difficult time. Mary Jo Murphy

    1. Hi Mrs. Murphy,

I just wanted to take a second to thank you so much for this lovely post. We all love you so much – one of our favorite teachers ever. I can’t tell you how much this means to us, as we all just read this together and smiled and cried.

      1. Maddie,
Thank you for your response. I did not attend services because I did not want to impose with such a large family. You kids meant the world to me and always will. I lost my Mother at a young age too, but, honestly have lived and shared the memories I have of her with those I meet, especially young people. In my mind it was always a way to connect. Your Dad’s reputation as a good man will be a memory you can also share. My best always. Mary Jo Murphy

  21. We will miss Mike so deeply. He is one hell of a good man. Whenever I spent time with Mike, my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard and having an absolute blast. He epitomized the phrase “people person”, the way he befriended everyone with ease and enthusiasm. Genuine, smart, hilarious and just all-around easy to be with. Whether it was going to listen to music as couples, an afternoon of golf or a Cubs game where we frequently never actually make it into our seats, I always said to myself that I really wanted to spend more time with Mike and Cathy, what a great guy and couple.

  22. Cathy & family,
The Caplice family has always had a special place in our hearts. We will always remember Mikes welcoming and friendly way. Especially during and after some of our own family struggles. We were always happy to see Mikes face in a crowd. Words cannot express how sorry we feel for your lose. I hope you find some comfort in the legacy he leaves behind. We will always remember his kindness. Our sympathies,

  24. Dear family of Mike Caplice. I worked for Mike for 6 years later In life, he was a very good boss and I was lucky to work for him. A few things I learned over that time was that Mike would do whatever it took to take care of his family, cherish his wife, guide his children and cheer the Chicago Blackhawks. I am so very sorry for your loss, but I know he was very proud of you all and that he made sure you had his best while he had it to offer.

I am grateful to have known your dad and the rest of your wonderful family. Thinking of you all during this difficult time and wishing you peace.
