It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Philip James Domenico Jr., 76, of Downers Grove.  Beloved husband of Joyce.  Loving father of Philip III (Holly), Kate and Anne (Derek) Munter.  Adored grandpa of Max and Reece Munter.  Dear brother of James (Diane), Don, Joseph (Cheryl), Lynn (Matt) Benko and the late Douglas.  Fond uncle and cherished friend of many.  Visitation 4 to 8pm Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301-75th St., Downers Grove.  Prayers 10:15am Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020 at the funeral home to Divine Savior Church, Downers Grove for Mass at 11am.  Due to current health requirements, masks and social distancing must be observed and 50 or less will be allowed at the funeral home and at church.  Interment private.  His greatest pleasures were sailing, tennis, and his two beloved “boys” Max and Reece.  Funeral home phone 630/964-6500 or www.hjfunerals.com

  1. Joyce and family. I was very saddened to learn of Phil’s passing. I worked with Phil for many years at Sears Tower. He was one of a kind and will be missed. Sorry to say I am out of town for the foreseeable future and will not be able to attend services. My best to the family.

  2. Please accept my deepest condolences for your family’s loss. Phil was my manager, and mentor, for many years and I learned so much from him. We still share so many stories about him and will continue to do so in his memory. He was our fearless leader.

  3. My husband and I were on the court last Wednesday shortly before Phil collapsed. We are so deeply saddened for your loss. He will be missed on the tennis courts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this sad and difficult time.

  4. Phil was doing one of his loves, tennis, when it happened. I’m SO sorry for the family’s loss. He was truly into his grandsons and getting them a good start in tennis. I’m so happy to have known him, but will miss his great sense of humor.

    sport and a gentleman. We will miss him.

  6. My condolences to Phil’s entire family. Phil was such a great guy and fun to hang out with on the tennis courts. I knew Phil from Midtown where we would play drop-in doubles on Fridays. He always elevated everyone’s game. Phil was one of a kind in the very best way! Always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Phil will be deeply missed by many.

  7. I sorry to read about Phill’s passing. I have found memories of Phil and all of the Domenicos from the old neighborhood on Campbell Ave. Please send my condolences to this family.

  8. Mr Domenico was so good to us as annoying teenagers, and supportive of our careers as adults. He left an amazing legacy and will he missed.
