  1. First of all, my husband Tom and I express our sincere sympathy to you Uncle Ken, Paula, David, & Wayne, and your entire families. Heaven became a little sweeter yesterday as your wife/mom/grandma entered its gates. Uncle Ken…. I am so glad that you and Aunt Darlene stopped by my home late last fall for a visit. I am so thankful that I had this opportunity to see you and give Aunt Darlene a hug, although I had no idea that this would my last time to see her on this earth, as she found out shortly after that she had ovarian cancer. She fought so hard through her cancer treatments, despite the fact that they were so hard on her. Aunt Darlene was a great woman of faith. She loved her Lord, and she was not shy about sharing her faith…I loved this about her. Aunt Darlene called me on the phone the end of April to tell me that she wasn’t taking any more treatments, as the treatments were not helping her. Aunt Darlene told me that she was ready to go to heaven when the Lord called her home. We visited about heaven, how exciting it will be when we see Jesus and we are reunited with our loved ones. Aunt Darlene and I have both loved having pets as part of our families, particularly cats and dogs. I know that you, Uncle Ken & Aunt Darlene even had a dog in your home for awhile who was blind. You loved this dog. Darlene had a heart of gold…..She was concerned for the less fortunate. I believe the verse which described her well was Matt. 25: 40…”The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these my brothers of mine, you did for me.’ During our last phone conversation, we talked about being reunited in heaven with our pets, as well. I reminded Aunt Darlene of the Bible verse found in Isaiah 11:6 which says, “The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.” This tells us that animals will be in heaven. We said our “good-by”, although we knew that the “good-by” was only temporary. Uncle Ken, you have our true respect and love, as you took wonderful care of Darlene in her/your home. We were told that her cat lay with her in bed, so loyal. Aunt Darlene entered heaven’s gates yesterday, to the words from her Lord, we’re sure, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Hugs and love to you all….From Tom & Cindy Drost

    1. Cindy and Tom,

Thank you so much for your kind words. Just wasn’t the same without extended family at the funeral today. So, your thoughts are a little extra special. God’s grace was evident in so many ways during our mom’s unwanted journey. She will be dearly missed, but we are so thankful Jesus was waiting with open arms.

      Blessings,

      Dave

    2. Thank you, Cindy & Tom

When Darlene and I were at your place last fall we had no idea that would be the last you and Darlene would see of each other. Although I’m missing Darlene terribly, I’m reminded that she has finished her race and rests in the presence of Jesus and all His glory. We who remain must continue in the race and rely on God for strength to continue on serving Him. I will always have fond memories of visiting with the families in Iowa. The family was always so welcoming and fun to be with.

Wishing God’s best blessings for you and your family.

      Ken
