Shirley J. Mumford, longtime resident of La Grange; beloved wife of Paul Mumford; loving mother of Kathleen, the late Stephen, Mary Alice, Patricia, Dan, Tom, & Pete (Megan); proud grandmother of Michael, Brandi, Samantha, Jennifer, Kristin, Robyn, Piper, & Jonah; dear great-grandmother of Haley, Abby, Aiden, Payton, Eleanor, & Gunnar; friend of many. Shirley and her husband Paul raised their seven children in La Grange, which the family still calls home. She was very involved in the Girl Scouts, first as a Girl Scout herself, and later as a Troop Leader for her daughters. She also attended as many of the activities as she could for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was also very involved in the church. The annual Antique Show was particularly special to her. She spent much of her free time reading, and was involved in her book and questors clubs. She had a brilliant smile for all. Visitation 4 to 8 pm on Fri., October 19 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Visitation continues from 9 am until time of funeral service, 11 am on Sat., October 20 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church of La Grange, 203 S. Kensington, La Grange.
