Bruce J. Sirchio

Bruce J. Sirchio, 70, La Grange Park resident of 36 years, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family September 22, 2017. He was born February 18, 1947 in Chicago. Son of the late Dr. Joseph Sirchio and Nancy (nee Secco) Sirchio.  He was the cherished husband of 46 years to Pat (nee Pezdek) Sirchio.  Beloved father of Gina (Tom) Lotus, Joseph, Gabrielle, and Jaime Sirchio. Loving grandfather of Emelia Sirchio, Isla, Dominic, Oliver and Stella Lotus. Treasured brother of Lucille (Zenith) Akers, and Judith (Peter) Connolly.  Uncle to Carol (Larry) Mertes and Michael Akers.  Also, brother in law to John and Marian Pezdek.
Associated with Shell Oil Company from 1972-1999.  Owned Totally Board skateboard shop in La Grange 2001-2009.
Bruce was heavily involved in community youth programs in the La Grange area, YMCA Indian Guide/Princess program, AYSO soccer and the Lyons Township High School Booster Club and more.
Bruce enjoyed numerous sunsets from the beach house in Douglas, Michigan.
Wednesday was sacred to Bruce and his golf buddies, friends made through these programs.  The “golf guys” enjoyed annual trips to Traverse City, Daytona, and Lake Geneva.
Bruce played softball with the “over 39ers” well into the time they became the “over 60ers”.
Loyal friend to many.  Never shirked an opportunity to give sage advice and a strong opinion on matters from politics to sports. Fought his cancer as he lived his life, valiantly and with true grit.  Active to the end in Cancer support groups from Christ Church of Oak Brook and Hinsdale Wellness Center.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home,  1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family &  Friends will gather on Thursday, September 28, where a Christian Service will be held at 10:00 am at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Rd., Oak Brook, IL 60523. Cremation Rites were accorded privately. Memorials in Bruce’s name to YMCA Camp Duncan, 32405 N. US Highway 12, Ingleside, IL 60041 appreciated.  Service Info: (708) 352-6500.

  1. Our heats go out to the Sirchio family. Wish we’d had more time to get to know Bruce better (we were looking forward to it). A full and productive life, to be sure, but this seems too soon and too young.
