Barbara Smulski Stucker

Barbara Smulski Stucker, 83, of Hinsdale, passed away Saturday, May 6th, 2017. Barbara was born April 19, 1934, the only child of John and Marie Smulski. She grew up in Chicago, graduated from the University of Chicago Lab School, and the University of Chicago. It was there that she met the love of her life, Max Stucker, and they began their life together. Lifelong members of First Christian Church of Chicago, they married there in 1955. The church became the abiding force and support in Barbara’s life, and she enjoyed serving in endless capacities within it. Barbara, a homemaker, was a member of AAUW, Hinsdale Questers, and served as a docent for the Hinsdale Historical Society. Her love for her family was central to her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Max. She leaves a daughter, Jean Brown (Jim), and grandchildren Andrew (Stefanie) Joyner, Mark Joyner, Katelyn Joyner, and Lauren Joyner. Memorial Visitation 2 to 6pm Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside, with a Memorial Service following at 6pm. Inurnment Private.
