Jeanette Luce, age 87, of LaGrange, IL (formerly of Clearwater, FL); beloved wife of Richard “Dick” for 59 wonderful years; loving mother of Jeff (Ann Warachowski), Craig (Kathy), Tim, Peggy (Kurt) Vavra, Patti (Jim) Essig, and Sue (Frank McKean) Raddatz; dear grandmother of Kelly (Derek Seymour) Luce, Kristin (Doug) Whitaker, the late Kurt Ryan Vavra, Stefanie (Carson) Cornelius, Keri Luce, Courtney (Mike) Bolt, the late Kaitlin Vavra, Kimberly and Daniel Vavra, Kevin and Scott Essig, Lauren and Kyle Raddatz; fond great-grandmother of Mason Bolt, Ethan Cornelius, Jack Whitaker, and Colin Bolt; sister of Anne (Richard) Leamy; preceded in death by her brothers Jack (Kaari) and Joseph (late Ruth) Shine; daughter of the late Elizabeth and late John Shine; dearest aunt and friend of many. Jen was an amazing woman who gave of herself to others her entire life. She had a kind heart, a warm smile, and was loved by all. Her husband affectionately christened her “ST. JEN!!” Visitation 3 to 9pm Sunday, May 15 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Funeral prayers 9:15 am Monday, May 16 from the funeral home to St. Cletus Church, LaGrange. Mass 10am. Private interment to be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. We are so sorry to learn of the loss of Jen. We loved her always. Jen was in this family long before I was. I remember so fondly of the lively Luce house in LaGrange with six bustling kids and a patient, calm Mom! What a feat. Special hugs to Dick and you all. xoxoox
I recognized Mrs. Luce on that day that she fell. And I’ve said prayers for her since that day. After growing up in the La Grange area, doing the job that I do, you’re bound to run into people that you know. I can’t express to you how sorry I am for your loss. I will continue to pray for her and your family.
