Geraldine B. Hletko, age 81, of Brookfield, Il.  Cherished aunt of Mary Jo, Joseph (Mary), Phyllis, Anne (David Lawton), Bernard (Julie) and John (Laura).  Devoted great-aunt of Michelle, Joseph, Daniel, Cooper, Ethan, Grace and Marcus.  Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Teckla, and her brothers Victor and Bernard.  Geri served as a teacher in Chicago Public Schools for 30 years and was an active member of St. Barbara’s Parish in Brookfield, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.  She was devoted to community service and volunteered with many organizations including the Senior Center of LaGrange, Intercare Faith Givers, Misericordia Candy Days, the Prairie Club of Illinois as well as St. Barbara’s Food Pantry.   She had also served as a board member of the First Slovak Catholic Ladies Association and was a member of the Friends of the Brookfield Library.   Geri loved to travel and visited many destinations around the world.  She was the smiling face at her families Everett Resort in Eagle River, Wisconsin for many years .  Visitation 3-9pm Friday October 16th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55^th St., Countryside.  Prayers 9:15am Saturday October 17th from the funeral home to St. Barbara’s Church for Mass at 10am.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Misericordia, the Brookfield Public Library or the Food Pantry at St. Barbara’s Church appreciated.  Funeral info 708-352-6500
