Alice A. Frohnapfel

Alice Frohnapfel Alice A. Frohnapfel, 82, of LaGrange, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on Tuesday, July 14, 2015.  She was the daughter of Clyde Bissell, a native of Kane, Pennsylvania, and Margaret (White) Bissell, a native of New York City.  Though born in Chicago, Alice and her brother Donald Bissell spent their childhood years in Western Springs, Hinsdale, and LaGrange.  A resident of LaGrange for over 70 years, Alice was an original member of St. Cletus Parish in LaGrange and a faithful attendant there for many decades.  She graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1951 and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1955. After college, Alice used her marketing degree while working for Libby, McNeil, and Libby at the Union Stockyards in Chicago, before marrying and starting a family. While raising her children, Alice was active in the LaGrange School District 105 PTA and worked in the Hot Lunch Program at Spring Avenue School in its early days, served over 13 years as a Camp Fire Girls scout leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, volunteered at LaGrange Community Memorial Hospital, and enjoyed weekend camping and boating excursions with her children as a member of the Salt Creek Campers and Prairie State Canoeists.  Her family was all-important to her, as such she spent most of her time as a stay-at-home mother. Her interests included golfing, bowling and family vacations.   She was preceded in death by her husband George, in 1966, her mother, Marge, in 1972, and her brother Don and their father Clyde in 1993.  Survivors include three sons, Jim, Tom, and Dan; two daughters and their husbands, Carol (Kevin) Wurtz and Sally (Greg) Smith; granddaughters Michelle and Jillian Smith; two nephews, Steve (Pam) Bissell, Brian (Lynn) Bissell; and four nieces, Trish (Jamie) Phillips, Janet Bissell-Ashby, Barbie (Mike) Duvall, Wendy (Brian) Smith. Memorial visitation is Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside.  Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Cletus Church, 600 W. 55th St., LaGrange.  Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.  Memorials are to the donor’s choice of charity.  Info: (708) 352-6500
