Nancy Claire BarronNancy Claire Barron passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 18, 2015 in Inverness, Florida. Nancy was the loving wife of James for more than 57 years. She was the dear mother of Kathleen (Michael) Brown, Maureen (Mark) Cantwell, James Jr., the late Terrence, Michael (Mary Beth), Timothy (Susan), Thomas (Catherine) and Kelli (Brian) Devlin. Nancy was the doting grandmother of Michael, Kaitlin and Connor Brown; Ryan, Kelli, Colleen and Molly Cantwell; Alyssa, Brittany and James Barron III; Meghan, Daniel, Brian, Maureen and Colleen Barron; Kathryn, Timothy Jr. and Patrick Barron; Annheli and Lillia Barron; and Molly and Thomas Devlin. Nancy was the devoted sister of Walter (Marilyn) Redmond and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was a resident of Hernando, Florida, and formerly a long-term resident of Willowbrook and Westchester, IL. Nancy was born September 29, 1934 in Chicago to her loving parents, Walter and Hazel (O’Toole) Redmond. She graduated from St. Giles School in Oak Park, IL and Trinity High School in River Forest, IL and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, IN. On May 4, 1957, after graduation, Nancy married James, her high school sweetheart. She devoted the rest of her life to the care of her loving family and to her vocation as a nurse. Nancy worked for decades as a registered nurse at Hinsdale Hospital and at McNeal Memorial, where she was loved and valued by patients, fellow nurses and doctors for her extraordinary care. Nancy was a life-long passionate Chicago Cubs fan, never doubting an eventual World Series victory. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL and at Notre Dame Church in Clarendon Hills, IL and Divine Providence Church in Westchester, IL. Nancy volunteered at several organizations, including Registered Nurses Retired and Meals on Wheels. Visitation will be Thursday, February 26th from 3-9 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home on 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside, IL (708) 352-6500. The funeral will take place Friday, February 27th at 9:45 a.m. at St. John of the Cross, 5005 Wolf Road, Western Springs, IL (708) 246-4404.
