Chester A. Harris, Jr., age 94, longtime resident of Western Springs, IL, passed away on June 21, 2014 in Austin, TX.  Beloved husband of the late Olga Kuch Harris for over 50 years.  Loving father of Douglas Harris (Judith Schulz) and Gayle Harris Nix (fiancé Robert Lackey).  Devoted grandfather of Jennifer Harris Kirby (Daniel Kirby), Jason Harris, Tabitha Harris (Michael Heldebrandt), Heather Nix, Bryan Harris (Kellie Harris), Bryan Nix and Brandon Nix.  Dear brother of the late Eleanor Downey and the late Margaret Langewisch.  Chester served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII, 1^st Lieutenant.  He is a graduate of Northwestern University and worked as a mechanical engineer for Chicago Bridge and Iron for nearly 40 years.   He is credited with 2 patents.  Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday, June 25 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55^th St., Countryside.  Funeral service 10am Thursday, June 26 at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs, 1106 Chestnut Street.   Interment Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst.  Funeral info 708-352-6500.
