Ronald W. Hurst, 76, of Lemont. Retired history teacher at Morton East High School and owner of Hursts’ Berwyn Jewelers. Beloved husband of Kathy, nee O’Brien. Loving father of Rebecca (Michael McGuire) Hurst, William (Lisa) and Robert. Grandfather of Blais and Zane. Brother of Velma (late Alex) Koehler and George (Myra) Hurst. Visitation 2 to 9pm Tuesday March 25th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301-75th Street, Downers Grove, where services will be held at 11am on Wednesday March 26th. Interment private. You touched so many people during your time here on earth. As a former student I can tell you that your class was a joy, a place where learning was made fun and enjoyable. May you enjoy your time in the heavens as we enjoyed having you here on earth. Rest in peace and prayers to your family. They will see you again, this is not where it ends.
Ron’s wit, wisdom, and friendship will be missed by all of those that had the opportunity to make his acquaintance.

Ron was a unique and wonderful person who touched many lives. He continued to be a positive influence in my life over many years. My heart is breaking for Kathleen and his children. God bless them during this difficult time.

My wife Kathy and I went to the jewelry store when we were in town back in 2009 but he wasn’t there. He will be missed.

Ron Hurst was one of my most memorable teachers and he had a huge positive influence on my life. Ron, you have been a great friend these past 40 years, and I will miss you very much. Rest in peace.

Had Mr Hurst for Am Hist junior yr. at East. Best school year of my life. Went to the track everyday with him and Mr Clifford. What a great guy! RIP Ron!
