Mary TomyMary Adele “Putsen” Tomy, nee Lambert, 70, of Woodridge passed away November 25, 2015. Mary Adele was born September 18, 1945 the daughter of Delbert and Rita (McGovern) Lambert.  Beloved wife of Robert. Loving mother of Matthew (Jandy) Tomy and Joanna (David) Matthies. Devoted Grandmother of Jack, Robert, Benjamin, P.J., William and Augie. Cherished Sister of Celeste Lambert, Linda (Ed) Squier, Kathy (Dale) Hilsmier and Joseph (Cathy) Lambert.  Sister-in-law of Pat (late Bill) Tomy.  Aunt Putsen to many nieces and nephews.  Mary enjoyed spending time on the beach with family and friends in St. Joseph, Michigan.  She cherished traditions, loved to host and entertain during the holidays.  Cooking and buying gifts were her specialty.  Her warmth, kindness and smile will be missed by all.  Visitation 3 to 9pm Tuesday December 1st at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301-75th Street, Downers Grove. Prayers 9:15am Wednesday December 2nd from funeral home to St. Scholastica Church in Woodridge for Mass at 10am. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Parkinson’s Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral info: 630-964-6500.

  4. Our very deepest sympathy on the passing of Mary. I will always hold special memories of times when the kids were growing up and always how she took the time to stop and chat as she walked through the neighborhood. A very, very sweet lady.

  5. I moved to Elmhurst right before my freshman year at IC. Putsen made me (the new kid) feel welcome … walked me home from school. I always remember her kindness. Sleep in peace.

  6. Joanna, please know how incredibly sorry & sad we are. We have such wonderful fond memories of Mary~ always smiling and so FUN to volunteer with! Specifically I remember, years ago- a rainy Haunted Forest Walk we worked together~ we were collecting tickets in LONG line – your mom had me laughing and the time just flew by! Truly an amazing beautiful woman! With Love and our deepest sympathy to you & your family.

  7. We are sorry about your loss. We learned the news from Sid and Jill Lambert who texted us . We felt bad and have good memories about her. The last time we met her in 2002. She is a sweet woman. We communicated by pen and paper. She liked to write with each others. We miss her. Pray for your family.
