Edna R. Toner, passed away peacefully on April 14th, 2025, at the age of 96. An only child, born in Collingswood, NJ, dedicated herself to her late husband James P. Toner, for 58 years and to her children.

Edna and Jim started their married life with the US Navy in Athens GA, then returned to the Philadelphia area where they raised their family in St. Dot’s Parish, surrounded by a large and loving Toner/Creighton/Hughes/Lovett family where she especially treasured her beloved brothers and sisters-in-law and 25 nieces and nephews.

Edna enjoyed many happy years vacationing with friends and family at the Jersey Shore and in retirement at The Meadows of Sarasota, FL. After Jim’s death, Edna moved to Chicago to be near two of her children.

Edna is survived by her children James Jr. M.D. (Leanne), Cary (Mary Ann), Andrew (Angela), Jeffrey (Maureen), and Aimee (Peter) Engebretson; devoted grandmother of James III, Daniel, Brian, Sarah, Ryan, Courtney, Kira, Morgan, James, Paul, Molly, Colleen, and Jack Toner, Paige, Grace, Cole, and the late Luke Engebretson; cherished great-grandmother of 19; fond aunt and friend of many.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Dorothy Parish, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA at Noon on Tuesday, April 22nd.
