Richard “Rick/Ricky” Hay Thorburn, Jr., age 50.  He was born to Richard Hay Thorburn, Sr. and Patricia Lee Thorburn, nee Moritz on August 21, 1974 in LaGrange, Illinois.  Douglas Bonebrake baptized him on December 1, 1974 at the First United Methodist Church of Oak Park, Illinois.  Pastor Eric C. Stumpf confirmed him on March 19, 1989 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burr Ridge, Illinois.

Richard was a resident of Willowbrook, Illinois.  He joined Trinity in 1981 and attended Trinity Lutheran School from Kindergarten to 8^th grade.  He was also involved in many church activities.  These activities included: heading an usher group, playing handbells and timpani, singing in the Sanctuary Choir, playing volleyball and softball, attending Tuesday night bible class, being assistant cemetery sexton and trustee.  Richard had the distinct pleasure of playing his favorite hymn “For All the Saints” on the organ at Trinity for All Saints Sunday in 1999.

He is survived by a sister, Jennifer Thorburn, an aunt, Sherry Thorburn, an uncle, John Moritz, several cousins and many, many friends.

Richard was called home by his Lord on Friday, August 15, 2025.  There will be a Memorial Visitation from 9am until Memorial Service 12 Noon Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11500 German Church Road, Burr Ridge, Illinois 60527.  Inurnment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Burr Ridge, Illinois.  We commend him to the Lord’s eternal care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund (address above) would be appreciated.
