Marijean Finn Robertson

Marijean Finn Robertson, age 65, of LaGrange, Illinois passed away on June 6, 2025. Born on Flag Day in 1959, she will be dearly missed by family and friends. Born in Chicago to William & Jean (Hackett) Finn, the fifth of eight children. Beloved mother of Margaret Walsh Placido (Zachary) and Scotty “Dutch” Robertson. Doting grandmother of Nathan and Violet Placido. Adored sister to William (Susan) Finn, Christine (Timothy) Finnegan, Geraldine (Steven) Malecek, Martin (Kathleen) Finn, Thomas (Patricia) Finn, Mick (Katie) Finn and James (Deborah) Finn. Cherished Aunt Mimi to over 24 nieces and nephews.

Marijean grew up in the town of Riverside and graduated from St. Mary’s Parish school. Her time at Riverside Golf Club and RB High School produced lifelong friendships. Her love of the outdoors prompted her move to Lake Tahoe and the American West. Excelling in photography, she eventually came back to her Midwestern roots and worked in the media circles throughout Chicagoland. She was never phased by her passing acquaintance with punctuality and by her own admission, she was hopeless when it came to driving directions. Yet she definitely knew how to navigate the emotional roads into all of the hearts of those she loved.

Family camping trips, wonderous cruises with the whole gang, Elgin Club pier time, and the Palm Springs blue skies. These are just a few of the memories that run deep. Marijean’s love for holiday celebrations came straight from Grandma Finn. Trim the Tree, Easter Egg hunts and St. Patrick’s Day at a downtown hotel. She enjoyed the culinary arts and could put out a double chocolate cake for family birthday parties second to none. She was imbued with a loving, giving spirit that we all benefited from. A full, eventful and rollicking life squeezed into an all together too short a period of time.

Friends and family will be greeted for visitation at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, Illinois on Wednesday June 11, 2025 from 8:30 AM—10:30 AM. Funeral mass of Christian burial to be held at 11:00 AM at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Road, Western Springs, Illinois. Interment private. For Service Info: 708-352-6500

  1. Such shocking and sorrowful news! I’m deeply saddened by the passing of my beloved cousin, Marijean. We grew up together in the numerous gatherings our families enjoyed over many years. My heartfelt condolences to all my cousins from the Finn family. I remember and cherish you all.

  2. I love my mom and am going to miss her so much. May her loving, generous, and gentle spirit infiltrate upon us all and live on through her children and grandchildren.

  3. Dear Bill and Christine,

I read of your sister’s passing with great sadness. Having lost a sibling I know how difficult of a time this is for the both of you and all the family so please accept my sincere condolences. Due to a funeral I have at the same time I cannot be present but I did celebrate Mass with the Sisters here at St. Mary of Providence and we remembered Marijean at that time.

    Blessings to all,

    Tom

  4. To Bill, Susan and the rest of the Finn Clan: Like Fr. Tom Mulchrone, I too have lost a sister, so just know that the immediate pain and shock of losing a sibling, mom, aunt will slowly be replaced by time, as well as lifetime lasting memories of the great love and fun times that you all shared together. I am in Michigan at the moment and will not be able to attend services but my prayers are with you all and know that the eventual meeting in heaven will be a Finn Family reunion that will impress God Himself! Peace be to all of you at this time.
