Edward T. Barrett
Edward T. Barrett, age 91, of LaGrange, passed away on January 31, 2025. Loving husband of the late Anne D. Barrett. Beloved father of Edward Jr., Christopher, Brian (Debra), and Daniel. Devoted grandfather of Michael, Elena, and Alexander. Predeceased by his dear siblings Mary Lou, Norinne, Patricia, Jean, and James.
Mr. Barrett attended the University of Notre Dame, left to serve as an Air Force fighter pilot during the Korean War, and graduated from St. Mary’s of Winona. After a career at United Airlines, he was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in LaGrange, serving as a Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister and Lay Presider.
Visitation on Thursday, February 6 from 4pm to 8pm at Hallowell & James, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Mass will be 10am on Friday, February 7 at St. Francis Xavier, 124 N Spring Ave, La Grange. Additional information: 708-352-6500
Our deepest condolences to Ed, Chris, Brian, and Daniel on the passing of your father. He will always be Mr. Barrett to me. I always remember the times he built the skating rinks in the back yard and how we would hit the pucks off of your neighbor’s garage. We only left a few marks! Those were the days. Sorry to hear about Mr. Barrett! He will be missed! I always enjoyed my conversations with him. Whenever I came to the house I would head to the den first to say hello. We also loved the skating rinks he made. Watching him fill garbage cans of water and dumping them out! Putting up with all our craziness over the years! I loved him Dearly! Barrett Family, know you are in the thoughts and prayers of the entire Cushing family. Ed was a friend and colleague of Don Cushing. Don and Joan Cushing had great respect for Ed and Anne and treasured their friendship. Ed’s kind heart and gentle soul will be missed.
