Barbara J. Doherty, age 89, of LaGrange, IL; beloved wife of the late Richard J. Doherty; loving mother of the late James (Tracy), late David, and late Tim; dear grandmother of Richard and Kelly Doherty; fond great-grandmother of Kaylee Marie Doherty; daughter of the late Jean (nee Kelly) and late Samuel Barnes; sister of the late Patricia Hinton, late Sara Harrison, and Robert Kelly Barnes. Barbara is also survived by her two cats, Shera and Bella. Family and friends to meet at the cemetery gates on Archer Avenue of Fairmount Willow-Hills Memorial Park at 1pm on Thursday, March 05 for interment. Additional Information: 708-352-6500
I am so saddened to hear the passing of Barbara. I remember so fondly the first time I met her and Dick. My brother John Montalto used to cut her hair. Our family found out they had a rental cottage in Saugatuck in 1980, hence over 10 years of yearly renting over the 4th of July week! I spent some of the VERY BEST times of my life there in that precious cottage! Barbara and Dick were 2 of the kindest most generous people I have ever met in my life! I recall one year bringing Barbara a bird house I had purchased for her. Well, you would have thought I brought her the world!! She lit up with that infectious smile and thanked me for so many years to follow! My husband proposed to me in that cottage and after years, we took our 2 children there. When we would take our trips to Saugatuck, I would make it a point to go to the cottage hoping to see Barbara but always missed her. I asked the neighbors to please tell her hello from us. I am hoping they did! I have thought of her so fondly over the years. I will FOREVER remember her and Dick and our conversations and laughter sitting outside on the patio. May she rest in peace. The heavens have a new angel!
