John StellwagenJohn Nixon Stellwagen, 72, of LaGrange, IL died suddenly at his home on March 11, 2015.  Son of the late William and Sylvia (nee Nixon) Stellwagen, he is survived by his wife of 41 years Gale (nee Jones) Stellwagen, daughters Leslie Stellwagen and Laura (Daniel) Zeman, and his adored and adoring granddaughter Matilda.  Graduate of North Park Academy, Arizona State University, and Northwestern University. John began his career as a high school English teacher, but perfected it as a salesman, seer, and sage.  Perhaps the best storyteller since Scheherazade, John spent his life making everyone he met smile.  John loved classic cars, fine scotch, traveling the world, and ensuring that every dog he met had a cookie.  He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.  Memorial services will be held Tuesday March 17 at Hallowell and James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street,  Countryside, IL between 2pm and 6pm. He was born May 22, 1947 the son of late Everett and Mary Elizabeth (White) Wagner.  He is survived by his wife Providence (Jeffrey); children Mary Elizabeth (Michael) Badrov and John; and four grandchildren Michael, Katherine, Matthew and Alexandra Badrov. Alfred J. Mozdzen

Alfred MozdzenAlfred J. Mozdzen age 84, of Countryside passed away at home on March 4th, 2015 after a short struggle with lung cancer. A U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War Era.  Beloved husband of Marian J. (nee Bowe); devoted father of Thomas J. (Barbara), Karen E. and Steven G. (Marguerite) Mozdzen; cherished grandfather of Michelle (Wolfgang), Laura, Matthew, Daniel, Rachel Mozdzen, Ryan Bast, and Rachel Bast.

Al served in the Army Artillery Parachute division during the Korean War. He was a star baseball pitcher in high school, having pitched two no-hitters and played at Wrigley Field in the City vs. Suburbs All-star game. He played on the U of Illinois baseball team in college. Al had a tryout with the New York Yankees in 1949, but a shoulder injury put an end to his baseball career ambitions. He met the woman of his dreams, Marian, on a blind date in 1954.

He had a long career in the publishing industry working in a variety of pre-press production areas, most notably in color quality control. He spent most of his later career at World Book Encyclopedia and R.R. Donnelley and Sons. In lieu of flowers, he would have preferred donations to any charity that helps people.

He was a kind and patient person, always optimistic, and a lifelong Cubs fan. Loved a simple life without the complications of technology. Always very supportive and always attended his children’s and grandchildren’s activities whether they were baseball games, swim meets, plays, band gigs, or graduations. He will be remembered kindly.

Louis FrandsenLouis Frandsen, Jr., died peacefully on March 2, 2015.  He is preceded in death by his beloved wife MaryAnn.  Loving father of Kenneth (Miriam Cohen), Gregory (Cynthia), Dawn (Kendall Schmidt); proud and cherished grandfather of Selena and Jacob.  Lou attended Morton H.S.; joined the Signal Corps and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War; travelled extensively in his career as a steel salesman.  He was a pack leader for Cub Scouts; a member of the Lions Club; proudly cofounded Team LaGrange Soccer Club and is fondly remembered by his players as “Uncle Lou.”  Lou loved dining with friends and family; vacationing in Hilton Head and Door County; relaxing in his yard.  He had a quick wit and loved to laugh.  Loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle, godfather, friend and neighbor.  Lou will be greatly missed.  Visitation 1-8pm Sunday March 8th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, where funeral service will be held 10:30am Monday March 9th.  Interment Fairmount-Willow Hills Memorial Park.  Funeral info 708-352-6500
