  1. Ann, Samantha, Alex and family, my deepest regrets on the passing of a wonderful man. I am so saddened by this. Dan was a career-long friend in the business. He and his witty comments and smile will be missed dearly. Rest assured the whole family will be in my prayers, as well as the prayers of many in and around the Indy area who have been following his trial. Peace to all of you, especially during this holiday season…

    1. To the Family

I need not say to you that Dan, “Was the finest kind”, because you lived it every day. Very sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure to work with Dan over many years. Dan always made transactions easy and smooth. I too looked forward to the annual dinners he and John would host at NMHC. They were fun and a highlight of each trip.

Lastly, as I grew up in La Grange Park and went to LT, we shared that connection to the family’s Western Springs home.

As Dan passed early in life, I can only conclude that God needed him more than us.

My prayers are with you all

  5. Dear Cohen Family,
What an amazing man Dan was. Usually quiet, as he sat busily working at his desk. While waiting for Ann to get ready for the evening out, Dan told me some really funny stories about his kids. I could see the love he felt for his family. He also told me about projects he was working on for work..as he was explaining he pulled out a massive portfolio, trying to help me understand. I saw the passion he had for work as well.. He was an amazing man. Please accept my sincere condolences.

  7. Dear Cohen Family,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of your husband and father. Whenever I came over Dan was busily working at his desk, while Ann was still preparing to to out on their date. He was a quiet man. But he always regaled me with amusing stories about his kids.. which I really enjoy very much. It was so evident how much he loved them. He also tried explaining to me what he did at work, he pulled out a massive portfolio, which I could only pretend to understand. In my eyes he was a genius, and such a sparkle in his eyes as he showed me all that his company had done. He will be missed by all that were fortunate enough to cross his path.

Dan’s dry witty humor was always appreciated during our irregular connections at CBRE and industry events. He simply made me and many others smile or laugh, situation dependent. He was also damn good at his craft! He will be missed up here in Minny. Deepest condolences.

  16. To Dan’s family, and his countless friends,
I’ve no doubt I’m not alone when I tell you how incredibly saddened and devastated I was to learn of this tragic news. Dan was a friend and business associate whom I had the pleasure of knowing for more than three decades. His dynamic personality and contagious smile defined him. He was always willing to help anyone at any time. His generosity and kindness was matched only by his deep love and devotion for his family, whom he never missed a chance to talk about. I can remember that last time I saw Dan was at an NMHC conference, sitting beside him at dinner listening to stories of his Alex and Sami with a smile on his face that rivaled the Cheshire cat’s. What a great man! He certainly left his mark on me and on this world, and he will be missed more than words can adequately express. God has called his angel home, and I know he will be watching over those he loves forever. I hope the strength of your family will help carry you through this difficult time. I’ll keep you all in my prayers.

  17. So sorry for the loss of an outstanding colleague. His presence will be missed in the office – I’ll never forget the “move” from 311 and his approach to it. He brought a humor to those around him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  18. To the Cohen family – We never had the pleasure of meeting you but feel we know you through our years of knowing Dan. He spoke of you all with such kindness, love and joy. What a wonderful man who will be sadly missed by all.

  19. To The Cohen Family

I am beyond words at the loss of such a good man. When I joined CBRE and had the pleasure of working with Dan, I recall his gracious acceptance of me as a team member and was always there to help as I learned the business. He was and remained one of the good guys; I will never forget his contributions to my career. Even more unforgettable was Dan’s wit and dry sense of humor. He was always there to provide a uniquely accurate reality check both in terms of getting a sale completed or making sure we never got too full or ourselves. I consider myself lucky to have had the pleasure of joining him on more than a few deals. Dan will be sorely missed by all.

I share in your sorrow and honor his life.
    Peace be with you.
