Lee Robertson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Millard Lee Robertson (Lee). On Tuesday March 6, 2018, Lee left us suddenly doing one of the things he loved, working out. He will be forever remembered by his children , Suzy (Tom), Amy (John) and Mike (Debby). His memory will also be treasured by his grandchildren Paige, Smith, Heather, Jillian, Dylan and Drew, as well as niece Cathy, nephew Eric, sister-in-law Carol and many dear friends. Paving the path to heaven are his parents, Mary and Millard, and his brother Jim.

Lee was an accomplished man, earning his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the  University of Missouri in 1963 and MBA from Loyola University. He achieved a 40-plus year career at Continental Can Company, and as it transitioned to Crown Cork and Seal before retiring in 2007. He was also an avid golfer and talented amateur photographer.

He was the busiest retired person we know, dedicating time to the Rotary Club’s many good works locally and around the world and serving as President for a term. Lee was an advocate for a child through the CASA program. He was a golf ranger and starter and spent many hours on the fairways with good friends.

But Lee’s greatest devotion was to his family. Lee was the ultimate super fan to his grandkids. He attended almost every game or event, always with a camera in hand, no matter the distance, wearing his spirit wear uniform to support the team.

He taught us patience and humility and touched many, many lives with his kindness. We take great comfort that he spent his last days doing what he loved — attending hockey games, going to church and spending time with family.

We’re certain he’s got an early tee time with his brother and dad on the finest course in heaven.

    Hello lee,

I’m very sorry to hear of your sudden passing as I was hoping to see you again at the ARC and Village Greens. May you be with God and rest in peace. Don’t worry about anything here on earth. Somebody else would carry the torch. And your family would be taken care of through Jesus Christ.

Your friend at Village Greens and the ARC.

  2. Lee,
How lucky I am to have something that makes saying Good-bye so hard. I truly treasure our fellowship as Woodridge Rotarians and will miss your friendly demeanor and compassion for service above self. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard working hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best!

    Rest in peace.

  3. Lee,
Although I have known you only a short time, you had a tremendous effect on me. Without saying a word, just the way you carried yourself. Your warmth, your smile, your friendliness and your humility is how I will remember you. It was truly a blessing to cross your path. My prayers are with you and all your extended family.

  4. Dearest Mr. Robertson… Lee! As you’ve always encouraged me to call you!
One of the greatest gifts of knowing Suzy, has been knowing you.
You always had a kind word for me, always took an interest in what I was working on. You listened most every Friday night when I was on the radio!
Ah, you were a champion of us all.
I will miss seeing you at all the family “doings” – with that camera around your neck!
I will think of you often. I will smile when I do. And I’ll probably automatically strike a pose and say, “cheese!”
Rest well, Dear Lee… Mr. Robertson.
    Much love,
    Dayna Calderon

  6. Dear Lee,

Such sad news…. I will always remember your great smile and dedication to Rotary. Brian was very proud of his relationship with you as he reflected on your good Rotary works. He would be so sad, but now the two of you can do great things together once again. My condolences to the Robertson family.

  7. I am so saddened to learn of Lee’s passing. I worked with him for several years at CASA of DuPage. He was a remarkable and loyal advocate for the children in his cases, was always willing to help in any way he could, was interested in the people around him and always spoke so lovingly of his family. Lee was a very good guy who will be missed. My thoughts are with his family.

  8. Mr lee as myself and Zykina referred to was
Zykina’s Casa friend. But even after her adoption he became part of our village
and was always just a phone call away having dinner with us celebrating birthdays and being someone our entirr family fell in love with. Heard many stories pertaining to college grands and soccer players. This has been such a shock to us all and we are deeply sadden by this news. Our blessed condolence to his family and we will ALWAYS share parts of our heart with our dear Mr. Lee
