Kathleen A. Manella Gros

Kathleen A. Manella Gros, age 61, of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, dedicated caregivers, and loved ones. “Kathy” was born on February 15, 1956 in Evanston, Illinois to James R. and the late Margaret (Hopkins) Manella. Kathy, the 2nd of 6 children, was raised in Wilmette and Winnetka, Illinois. She attended Regina Dominican High School, received a BSN from Loyola University of Chicago, a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. William H. Gros, son Bill (Pamela) Gros, daughter, Margaret “Molly” Gros, and her father, James R. (Phyllis) Manella . She is also survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Helen Gros, sister-in-law Cindy Higgins, and brother-in-law Glenn (Cynthia) Gros as well as brothers and sisters; Joan Manella, James M. Manella, John (Anita) Manella, Daniel (Tracey) Manella, and Peggy (Mike) Manella Cross. Kathy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews; Brian Strandjord, Julie (Mark) Kurtz, Lisa Strandjord, James (Ashley) Strandjord, Mira Manella, Sarah Manella, Isabella Wesley, Sofia Wesley, Tim Higgins, Ashley Sison, and Leonardo Manella. She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret A. Manella. Visitation from 3pm to 9pm Monday, December 11 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 West 55th Street, Countryside. Catholic Funeral Mass to be held at 11:15am, Tuesday, December 12 at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Road, Western Springs. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Margaret A.   1. I am so sorry to hear of Kathy’s passing. My love, prayers and condolences to her family. I cannot recall ever seeing her walking the halls of Regina without a dimpled smile on her beautiful face. She has a wonderful spirit and the Class of ’74 will never forget her.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Kathy fondly from my Regina ‘74 days, a right and caring person and outstanding woman even then.
    She would not want her family to grieve but rather celebrate her incredible journey in life!
